The size of PUMST’s archival collection is estimated to be about 250 metres of shelve length. In principle, all the documents, iconographic material and multimedia are in a very good condition. The only exception is a small collection of negatives belonging to the Home Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The following documents constitute the core of archive collection:
- Documents of the VIth Bureau of the Polish C-in-C in London (responsible for liaison with occupied Poland during the Second World War)
- Documents of the Home Department of the Ministry of Interior of the Polish Government in Exile based in London.
The PUMST archives also include:
- Documents of the Home Army’s Verification Commission active in the years 1945-1990 (about 40.000 personal files);
- Various reports and personal accounts written by the soldiers of the Home Army
- Private collections of documents from various institutions which were actively linked to the Home Army
- Pamphlets, brochures, posters and the underground press;
- Maps and plans of Poland’s cities and regions dating to the war time period.
Furthermore, PUMST has at its disposal:
- An extensive collection of photographs, slides, negatives, films and microfilms
- Sound library and video library
- Collection of museum items
